On 30 December, over 150 members of the community rang in New Year’s Eve together as they celebrated BEAM’s 2nd anniversary. In attendance were students and staff from all BEAM programs, students and teachers from NEED, members of local CBOs and NGOs, and some Burmese community leaders. Friends and family of BEAM provided a delicious mix of food including mohinga, beef and chicken curries with roti, Burmese donuts, white noodle soup, Karen rice soup, and a variety of fruit and desserts. Students participated in a gift exchange and each received a BEAM t-shirt. All guests were also given BEAM towels and many made donations for Kachin war refugees, collected by BEAM. The night was a memorable event for all who came!
