Students are required to answer the essay question as completely as possible (Please write at least 3 short paragraphs). Here is the link for the application. Please complete it and send it to: [email protected], before 15 May 2020. This is the deadline for applying to the ALPPLA program and students will not be selected after that date.

Applicants must sit the English diagnostic test.

The English diagnostic test schedule:

  • For applicants from Chiang Mai: 20 May 2020 Wednesday at 9:00 AM at BEAM (not more than 5 applicants at a time).

Brief Information

These are classes in intermediate to advanced English language, basic Math & Science, and basic Social Studies (with an emphasis on Asia and particularly Myanmar). The ALPPLA will start with online learning before physically starting in-person classroom learning because of COVID-19.

ALPPLA is not a pre-GED course, but many of our ALPPLA students have gone on to study GED after a few months in ALPPLA.

Those students who study in ALPPLA usually fall into two categories: A) Those who want to pursue higher education through GED & University in the future and B) Those who want to increase their knowledge for work, travel, social relationships, etc. Either of these is a great reason for you to join us.

  1. There are 3 courses – taught by 3 different teachers. You may study one, two, or all three of these courses.
    a) Math and Science
    b) English
    c) Social Studies
  2. We are considering online classes that will be a combination of Zoom meetings with your teachers and YouTube videos. In addition, teachers may assign PowerPoints, quizzes, reading homework, writing assignments, reading assignments, tests, and exams.
  3. Hours required every week:
    a) 3 hours of class time FOR EACH SUBJECT: two classes of 1.5 hours each for each subject.
    b) 1-3 hours of homework for each class
