Asanha Bucha Day Activity
On 6th July, 2017, BEAM Students and Teachers organized the Asanha Bucha Day activity at Wat Yang Wang located near BEAM Education Foundation in Chiang Mai.
To mark the day, ceremonies are held in Buddhist temples across Thailand. Many Thai people return to their ancestral homes to donate offerings to temples and listen to sermons. During the day, monks chant mantras and preach the first sermon of the Buddha.
It marks the beginning of the three-month ‘Phansa’ period, during which all monks should stay in their temples and not travel.
Before going to the temple, BEAM teachers share about the day of the event to BEAM students to get a better understanding of the religious culture of Thailand.
