On October 27th, BEAM provided basic computer training at the Watt Sai Moon Myanmar monastery in Chiang Mai. Currently, 15 students, mostly migrant workers, are attending every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7pm to 9:30pm. The training will be provided for two and a half months. The training offers students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with computers and internet and email, as well as to learn basic typing skills.

Mg Kyi Lwin, a student currently attending the training, said, “This is my first time taking basic computer training. After I complete the training, I want to share my computer skills I’ve learned with my brothers and sisters. I want to try my best to complete the training and work at the same time.”

BEAM provides this training especially for Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand in order to provide them with skills that will be helpful in their current and future workplaces. BEAM provides migrant workers the opportunity to seek high-skill employment and achieve their professional goals.
