About our organization

BEAM Education Foundation, located in Chiang Mai, Thailand, is currently seeking a Communications and M&E Manager to strengthen its communication and partnership activities for the organization’s various projects.

Founded in 2010, BEAM Education Foundation is a non-profit charity educational organization providing educational services to marginalized and migrant youth in Thailand and Myanmar. We deliver educational access, vocational skills training, and youth leadership empowerment opportunities to meet specific needs of our program beneficiaries. In the past 13 years BEAM has empowered community youth leaders while promoting and widening access to basic, higher, and vocational education.

Purpose of the position:

So far, BEAM has supported over 80,000 disadvantaged youth and children through our various programs. BEAM operates over 30 sub-projects under 6 main programs. The Communications and M&E Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization’s communication strategies and ensuring that internal and external stakeholders convey accurate information. Moreover, this position is responsible to ensure that an organization’s activities are effectively monitored, evaluated, reported and aligned with its goals. The Communications and M&E Manager reports to the Foundation Director and Senior Management Team and is responsible for overseeing the organization’s public image and reputation while working closely with the management and staff team, Finance and Administration, HR, and other programs on a daily basis.

Job description:

The Communications and M&E Manager is required to carry out the following functions, in addition to other associated functions as the organization may require from time to time:

Maintain and build positive relationships

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with various Thai government departments and the Foundation’s funding and consulting partners by creating the comprehensive reports in both English and Thai.
  • Develop and implement internal communication strategies to keep employees informed and engaged.
  • Create and manage content for communication channels, including website, newsletters, monthly, quarterly, and year donor reports, social media, and team meetings.
  • Work with the Program Coordinators to use impactful storytelling and communications methods to convey the power of collaborative action to external partners.
  • Train and assist program coordinators for developing reports. Develop program reports and communicate with partners which are assigned by Foundation Director.
  • Develop and maintain relationship management systems that increase the organization’s capacity to cultivate and sustain meaningful relationships with donors and funders.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and consistent message across all internal and external communication channels.

Coordinate strategy and reporting

  • Work with the Foundation Director and Senior Management team to develop and implement communication strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Track and report on the effectiveness of communication efforts.
  • Serve as a liaison between the organization and its donors and partners in order to ensure that the reporting and M&E needs of the various stakeholders are met.
  • Develop and coordinate and review high-quality activity narrative reports by program coordinators and associates and the reports must be submitted in both Thai and English.
  • Collaborate with different programs, including human resources, and operations, to ensure coordinated communication efforts.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new communication strategies in alignment with the program work, values, and strategic priorities of the organization.

M&E, Analysis and Impact Assessment

  • Develop and implement monitoring systems with the purpose of measuring the performance of projects against established goals and objectives.
  • Supervise and develop procedures for data collection, ensuring the collection of relevant and accurate data.
  • Perform impact assessments in order to assess the comprehensive effectiveness and results of projects or programs.
  • Prepare regular reports on the progress and performance of projects for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, donor expectations, and organizational policies.
  • Provide training and support to staff involved in data collection and evaluation processes in M&E, Analysis and Impact Assessment
  • Align monitoring and evaluation efforts with the organization’s strategic objectives.
  • Ensure that M&E activities contribute to organizational learning and adaptive management.

Job skills and qualifications:

  • University graduate with Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience as a Communication Manager or in similar role in various aspects of event coordination, an in-depth knowledge of fundraising activities and programs.
  • Prior experience moderating website and social media platforms, including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Thai. Thai language proficiency is required.
  • Strong organization, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: flexibility, patience, and positive attitude.
  • Familiarity with digital communication tools and social media platforms.
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute to the development of organizational goals.
  • Knowledge on understanding and practicing of the Safeguarding Children and Young People is preferable. The candidate should also be volunteer-minded and needs to commit to about 40 working hours per week. Work permit and visa will be provided at our expense after successfully completing a probation period. This contract is valid for a period of 12 months (early January – December 2024) and may be renewed by mutual agreement between the employee and the Foundation.
