About our organization

BEAM Education Foundation, located in Chiang Mai, Thailand, is currently seeking a HR assistant to ensure human resources processes run smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements.

Founded in 2010, BEAM Education Foundation is a non-profit charity educational organization providing educational services to marginalized and migrant youth in Thailand and Myanmar. We deliver educational access, vocational skills training, and youth leadership empowerment opportunities to meet specific needs of our program beneficiaries. In the past 13 years BEAM has empowered community youth leaders while promoting and widening access to basic, higher, and vocational education.

Purpose of the position:

So far, BEAM has supported over 80,000 disadvantaged youth and children through our various programs. BEAM operates over 30 sub-projects under 6 main programs. The HR Assistant is responsible for providing support to the HR department and contribute to the overall functioning of the organization. The HR Assistant reports to the HR Manager and is responsible for assisting all aspects of human resources management, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits administration, and compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations.

Job description:

The HR Assistant is required to carry out the following functions, in addition to other associated functions as the organization may require from time to time:

Project Design and Management Functions:

  • Assist in developing/reviewing/amendments the operational & staff manual and monitors all program activities in line with the existing policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with program coordinators on all programs and activity performance to maintain utmost impact with all organization programs/projects.
  • Support in implementing effective recruitment strategies to attract and retain members.
  • Conduct job interviews, assess candidate qualifications, and make hiring recommendations.
  • Collaborate with HR Manager to identify staffing needs and workforce planning.

Administrative & Other Functions:

  • Assist to support the training and professional development of staff.
  • Take part in human resource management including the biannual performance evaluation of all staff.
  • Help promote positive employee relations through effective communication and conflict resolution strategies.
  • Participate investigate and address employee concerns, grievances, and disciplinary matters.
  • Foster a positive organizational culture and work environment.
  • Participate in training needs assessment and develop programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.

Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting functions:

  • Provide leadership in the development of regular reports for HR development activities grants and other partnership reports.
  • Conduct surveys to gather feedback and measure employee satisfaction.
  • Assist produce reports regarding workforce demographics, employee attrition, and additional necessary human resources metrics.

Job skills and qualifications:

  • University graduate with HR, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Two years of experience as a HR management, or managerial role and an in-depth knowledge of HR matters.
  • Proficient in employment laws and regulations and other Human Resources Information System and strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong organization, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: flexibility, patience, and positive attitude.
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute to the development of organizational goals.
  • Knowledge on understanding and practicing of the Safeguarding Children and Young People is preferable. The candidate should also be volunteer-minded and needs to commit to about 40 working hours per week. Work permit and visa will be provided at our expense after successfully completing a probation period. This contract is valid for a period of 12 months (early January – December 2024) and may be renewed by mutual agreement between the employee and the Foundation.
