BEAM Student Continues Her Education Journey Through International Scholarship

By BEAM Staff

“I am overjoyed that what once seemed impossible is gradually becoming reality,” says Phyu Phyu Khaing. “Since there is no educational gap and financial concern, all I need is to immerse myself in study and attain skills.”

For Phyu Phyu Khaing, the path to higher education was not always clear. Originally from Chauk Township in Myanmar’s Magway Region, she was forced to leave high school at just fifteen due to ongoing unrest.

“Before I found BEAM, I was constantly devastated about my study,” she shares. “Despite having a desire to pursue higher education, the interruption of my high-school studies left a crucial gap. Moreover, I had to watch many opportunities slip away.”

Determined to continue learning, Phyu Phyu began studying for the GED independently. But without guidance or financial support, progress was difficult.

“I studied on my own due to financial constraints. However, I did not see any progress,” she says.

Everything changed when she discovered BEAM’s CYLD program through Facebook.

“At first, I thought it was just the GED program. Little did I know it would transform me profoundly at that time,” she explains. “The CYLD program not only provided GED lessons but also educated us about responsibility and guided us toward post-GED pathways.”

That guidance proved pivotal. Just five months after graduating from the program, Phyu Phyu successfully applied for a scholarship to the University of the People, where she is now studying for an Associate Degree in Business Administration.

“With the knowledge provided by BEAM’s teachers, the process of applying for the scholarship was much simpler than I expected,” she says.

Looking ahead, Phyu Phyu is focused not only on completing her degree, but on continuing her education and building a meaningful career.

“Following graduation, I plan to pursue further studies while also seeking opportunities to contribute to organizations that value both business administration and applied science skills,” she shares. “I am very grateful for the guidance of the teachers.”

Like many BEAM students, her journey is not just about personal success—it is also about growth, resilience, and the ability to see new possibilities.

“I would like to tell prospective students of BEAM to trust themselves, respect the teachers and follow given guidance,” she says. “At the end of the day, you will find that you have achieved more than you realized.”

BEAM staff fondly remember Phyu Phyu Khaing’s incredible drawing skills and view her as a student with many talents. We all wish her well on her educational journey and beyond.
