GMS-ASEAN Conference 2016
On 14 December 2016, 5 BEAM students and 1 teacher participated in the international conference, “China and Southeast Asia: Transnational Nexus of Politics, Economics and Cultures,” organized by The Greater Mekong Sub-Region Studies Center (GMSS), Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration, Chiang Mai University in collaboration with GMS-ASEAN Network. During the conference, topics such as: development and environmental issues, ethnicity, religion and culture, global trade and regional economic integration, migration, tourism and arts, Regional and sub-regional cooperation, public policy and cultural diplomacy, traditional and evolving security issues, non-economic and human capital flows were included in panel discussion sessions.
As part of students’ activities, 2 BEAM students participated in the GMS-ASEAN Quiz Contest, competing with 7 other universities. It was a great opportunity for BEAM students to not only gain exposure and knowledge about relevant topics concerning GMS and ASEAN, but also to make friends with students from Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia and other ASEAN Nations.
