Over 15 BEAM students and teachers participated in the International Migrants Day seminar on December 18, 2018 at the Tarin Hotel in Chiang Mai. This seminar was organized by the International Labor Organization (ILO) and our partner MAP Foundation. This year’s International Migrants Day seminar was about “Occupational Safety and Health”. Migration is a powerful driver of economic growth, dynamism and understanding. It allows millions of people to seek new opportunities, benefiting communities of origin and destination alike.
During the panel discussion, topics were covered such as migrants’ occupational safety, social welfare, insurance and health issues. Migration is one of the greatest issues of our era. “Migration with Dignity” was the theme of 2018’s International Migrants Day, which was observed on Tuesday (18 December). We renewed our call to save lives by ensuring migration is safe, regular, and dignified for all and more focused on migrant workers’ occupational safety and health standards. On International Migrants Day, let us take the path provided by the Global Compact: to make migration work for all.
