On Wednesday, 22 February, BEAM successfully held its first Education Workshop, with 14 attendees including current and recently hired teachers, as well as BEAM staff, administration, and one visitor from the Curriculum Project. Through brainstorming and discussion, we defined a shared vision for the educational needs of Burmese migrants and refugees, and then reviewed and redesigned BEAM’s educational and vocational programs to best reflect this vision. The workshop gave participants a clearer understanding BEAM’s role in the migrant community and resulted in many new and motivating ideas for expanding and executing BEAM programs.
