In January 2014, two instructors from BEAM’s vocational computer program were awarded Linux Professional Institute Certificates (LPICs). Sai Aung Lin and Zin Lin Oo were granted BEAM’s scholarship award (supported by Diakonia) to take the LPIC Level 1 course. They prepared for five months to take the exams for Part 1 in October 2013 and Part 2 in December 2013. They both successfully passed their exams and were awarded the LPIC Level 1 certificate. LPIC-1 covers basic skills for the Linux professional that are common to major distributions of Linux, including System Architecture, Linux Installation and Package Management, GNU and Unix Commands, Devices, Linux File Systems, and File System Hierarchy Standard. BEAM Education Foundation congratulates our two vocational computer instructors on their success. We also appreciate Diakonia for their financial support, and the MAP Foundation for introducing us to Diakonia.
