70 Hours Crochet Training
On 12th January 2015, BEAM started the first basic crochet training of 2015, taught by Sayama Pan San, the trainer. Ten students of different ethnic groups such as Shan, Kachin, Karen, Mon, Rakhine, and Lahu are currently attending the training course every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. In order to purchase necessary materials for the training, each student has to pay 300 Baht. The Training will be provided for three months through March, and gives students the opportunity to practice and make crochet orders from outside and earn money.
Ma New, a current student, said, “I am currently attending both crochet and tailoring training at BEAM, and this is my first time learning basic crochet. Now, I can knit hats on my own. With these vocational skills I will learn here, I hope to start my own business in the future.”
