On 17-18 December 2015, 5 BEAM students and 2 teachers participated in the international conference, “Asian Perspective on Peace and Development: Questioning the Future of GMS and ASEAN,” hosted by the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration at Chiang Mai University (CMU). During the conference, topics like Peace and Conflicts, Ethnicity, Tourism and Development, Gender and Socio-cultural Issues, International Relations, Human Rights and Human Security were included in panel discussion sessions.
On 18 December, 3 BEAM students participated in the GMS-ASEAN Quiz Contest, competing with 6 other universities. The BEAM students made it to the final round of the competition and eventually received 3rd place. It was a great opportunity for BEAM students to not only gain exposure and knowledge about relevant topics concerning GMS and ASEAN, but also to make friends with students from Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia.
