Our Programs

Bridging Educational Access to Migrants Education Foundation (BEAM) aims to empower Burmese migrant workers and youths in Thailand to facilitate access to and participation in Thai social and economic life.

Higher Education Program

BEAM’s Higher Education Program provides students with holistic knowledge and skills they require to continue in formal primary and secondary as well as tertiary education, empowering them to lead self-determined lives benefiting both themselves and their wider communities. The Higher Education initiatives are tailored to students’ needs and developed in collaboration with them, offering preparation for continuing education (GED certification), advanced language classes, and non-formal education in preparation for access to formal further education. All programs provide an integrated educational framework with fluent transitions to allow students to utilize their full potential. – LEARN MORE HERE

Scholarship Program

BEAM’s Scholarship Program (BSP) was launched in 2011 to aid university students in accessing higher education. Cooperation with other organizations bridges access gaps especially for migrants otherwise unable to pay for further education. – LEARN MORE HERE

Community Service Internship Program

Based on mutual benefit to both internees and internship corporations, the Community Service Internship Program (CSIP) allows former BEAM students enrolled in or about to start university to gain work experience in a local NGO or organization. Internships should be service oriented and can focus on mentoring youth, environmental protection, community development, health, safety, human rights or education. Students will receive a semesterly scholarship in addition to the experience gained at their placement. – LEARN MORE HERE

Youth Community Exchange Program

The Youth Community Exchange (Y.C.E.P.) program has been an integral part of BEAM’s community empowerment and cross-cultural understanding efforts since 2009 as it overcomes major language barriers and promotes peaceful community integration; simultaneously, it improves beneficiaries’ opportunities for social and occupational participation. Language courses and joint activities for Thai and migrant youths build links between communities that strengthen the base for shared development and lasting understanding. All programs are developed with and tailored to beneficiaries’ needs and desires to ensure relevance and effectiveness. – LEARN MORE HERE

Education Legal Assistance Program

The Education Legal Assistance Program (ELAP) acts as a trailblazer for migrant workers and youths as it improves education access for marginalized communities through ensuring legal status and improving transferability of education achievements between Thailand’s and Myanmar’s education systems. ELAP allows migrants to access education in Thailand and continue education at the appropriate level upon transition between Thailand and Myanmar. – LEARN MORE HERE

Migrant Education Integration Initiative

The Migrant Education Integration Initiative (MEII) is a community based approach to reach more migrants and refugees to provide education. It includes 17 different organizations, among them BEAM, that are providing assistance in 6 different provinces of Thailand. After being founded in 2013 the network now includes over 700 teachers that work to educate migrant children in learning centers that would otherwise not have the chance to learn in a school environment. – LEARN MORE HERE
