On Sunday 6 April, eight young women from BEAM and Thai Freedom House participated in a day long workshop called “Finding Your Inner Leader”. The workshop was facilitated by Victoria Fitts Milgrom, a life coach and women’s empowerment leader from the USA.

There was an art workshop at BEAM by the Art Relief International. The activity took about one and half hours and there they discussed basic knowledge of art and principles of color. About 20 of BEAM’s students joined the workshop and gain the knowledge about arts and practical creative activity.

The first batch of basic jewelry knitting training for 2014 started on the 12th of March, 2014, with 11 trainees. It is 30 hours course which will cover basic skill of threads tying and crochet knitting. We have plan to 3 mobile trainings around Chiang Mai or other migrant areas in Thailand for 2014.

The BEAM Education Foundation launched its very first mobile tailoring short course training from 4th to 6th of March at Pardan Village, Chiang Dao, and Chiang Mai with 5 trainees. They are ethnic hill-tribes (including Kachin, Lahu, Lisu) and training conducts during their break time from cultivation works.

The BEAM Education Foundation joined women forum on 7th March and the International Women day which was held on 8th March, 2014, in Chiang Mai. During the events, there were women’s rights activities and speeches related to women’s rights.

In January 2014, two instructors from BEAM’s vocational computer program were awarded Linux Professional Institute Certificates (LPICs). Sai Aung Lin and Zin Lin Oo were granted BEAM’s scholarship award (supported by Diakonia) to take the LPIC Level 1 course.

On 13th December 2013, BEAM Education Foundation went on an excursion trip to Payap University in Chiang Mai. All together, there were 50 participants from the first and second year bridging program, as well as alumni from past programs and some teachers.

On 2nd November 2013, the BEAM Education Foundation went on an exposure trip to the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden in Mae Rim, Chiang Mai. It is one of the most renowned botanic gardens in Thailand, and a major center for scientific research.
