Queen’s Garden Exposure Trip

On 2nd November 2013, the BEAM Education Foundation went on an exposure trip to the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden in Mae Rim, Chiang Mai. It is one of the most renowned botanic gardens in Thailand, and a major center for scientific research.

On 12 October 2013, BEAM students participated the 2CharityWalk for We women Foundation. 17 students joined the charity walk around the inner moat started from the Thapae Gate at 4:30 pm.

Feelings on Passing the GED

For migrant students from Myanmar, dreams of higher education are often impossible to pursue through mainstream education systems. BEAM’s Academic Bridging Program prepares migrant students to take the GED, an exam that allows them to apply to universities in Thailand and around the world.

Tailoring update

The Tailoring Program would be thankful for donations to help offset the cost of printing the book. We will give two knot buttons trainings in 2013. The six month tailoring training (19 students) and Computer basic training (15 students) started on January 7th, 2013.

Field trip to Doi Inthanon – December 21st, 2012

Almost 70 students, teachers, and volunteers enjoined a one day field trip to Doi Inthanon. Students enjoyed waterfalls, mountain-side chedis, and the windy summit of Thailand’s highest mountain.

BEAM Collection 2012- November

The aims of the BEAM Collection 2012 show were to display the vocational skills after five tailoring and two knitting trainings, and to promote Myanmar culture with our resources and skills. BEAM students and staff prepared for the show for over three months.

Migrant Education Integration Initiative

On November 12, 2012, BEAM, the Mae Tao Clinic, and MAP Foundation co-hosted a strategic seminar in Mae Sot, Thailand, for leaders in migrant education. Over 50 attendees representing more than 20 schools and education-related organizations discussed the need for standardization and accreditation of the migrant education system.

Clean and Green BEAM

REMEMBER, the first Saturday of each month is “Cleaning Day at BEAM”. We invite all students, teachers and volunteers to participate in keeping the school neat and tidy. This is a fun way to build friendships, motivate each other, and remind ourselves that we are all responsible for the environment.
